BASIC® Wins 5 Webbys For Partnerships with Patagonia, Google, and Crafted™

The Webbys most-awarded agency when it comes to web and digital took home five more pieces of hardware this year at the 25th annual Webby Awards.

The news comes fresh off the heels of 23 total recognitions, including 11 nominations and 12 honoree nods for the San Diego-based agency - the most of any design agency at the 2021 awards ceremony. Nearly 13,500 projects from around the world were entered into the contest.

BASIC’s five Webbys for 2021 are:

  • Patagonia: Webby Winner and Webby People’s Voice Winner in Websites and Mobile Sites: Fashion & Beauty
  • Crafted™: Webby Winner in Websites and Mobile Sites: Corporate Social Responsibility
  • Google Store: Webby Winner and Webby People’s Voice Winner in Websites and Mobile Sites: Best Mobile Visual Design - Function

Working alongside Patagonia, the world’s foremost outfitter of outdoor gear and apparel, BASIC® set out to create an experience that defined how brands tell stories and do business. The work led to an improved navigation and customer journey; smarter product filtration, education, and wayfinding; and a story of sustainability for each product so customers can feel good about their purchase.

The result: a 25% increase in mobile conversion for a brand that, in its own words, is “in business to save our home planet.”

BASIC’s work on Google Store also earned the agency two more prestigious Webbys. As Google’s agency-of-record on-site in their Mountain View office, BASIC® worked with the team to improve the eCommerce experience when the world was shopping online like never before. It resulted in easier ways to find smart home products during an unprecedented time in history when we could all use a little extra help around the home.

For Crafted™, a platform for communal exchange within today’s creative scene, BASIC® made it their mission to impact culture through collision. Specifically, BASIC® set out to give Creatives in San Diego a physical space to cross paths, transcend what divides us and bring more unity to creative culture. The result is a website that promotes corporate social responsibility on a hyperlocal level and invites the community to dining experiences where Creatives can sit side-by-side engaging in transparent conversations about differences.

Adding to the accolades, BASIC’s parent company, Dept, took home a Webby jury award for transforming a Van Gogh museum into a digital experience that was made accessible to all. Dept was also recognized twice in the Virtual & Remote category. The award recognized an interactive digital showroom built for GANNI, which was named the People’s Voice winner in Fashion & Retail, and the ‘Live Eet’-campaign with Honig that supported the Dutch Foodbanks recognized in the Brand or Partner Experience category.


Deemed the “Internet’s highest honor," The Webby Awards promote the world’s most illustrious and innovative digital experiences. They receive over 13,000 entries per year from the U.S. and 70 other countries. They are presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS). Sponsors and partners of The Webby Awards include Grey Goose, Vitamin T, Shocase, Engine Yard, Funny or Die, Advertising Age, Percolate, Mashable, Business Insider, Internet Week New York, and Guardian News and Media.
