The Webby Awards Select BASIC® to Rethink the Future of Their Brand and Digital Platform

Acknowledged by The New York Times as “the Internet’s highest honor” and widely considered “the Oscars of the Internet,” The Webby Awards have cemented themselves as a tastemaker of innovation. For more than two decades, they have remained the foremost authority on digital excellence, recognizing the finest achievements across websites, mobile experiences, social media, online videos, and advertisements.

As a curator of some of the most renowned work on the Internet, they look to reflect the quality of the projects they showcase while furthering their cultural influence. To that end, they’re teaming up with us to establish a new vision and design language for their brand and digital platform.

“The Internet is culture. It not only amplifies but also shapes society and our expectations,” says BASIC® creative director Erwin Hines. “So, when The Webby Awards came to us to rethink their platform, we were excited about the partnership. Going into it, our question is ‘How do you build a platform that truly exemplifies the best of the Internet?’”

As two culturally driven brands, there is a natural alignment—both teams committed to curating and demonstrating 21st-century excellence.

“We are excited and humbled to have the opportunity to work with a company that we feel represents the best combination of aesthetic and functional design on the Internet,” says The Webby Awards’ executive producer Steve Marchese. “As the most prestigious award for digital in the world, the expectation is often that we should meet and exceed best practices. We feel that, by working with BASIC®, not only is this a foregone conclusion but the process itself will be as gratifying as the final product.”
