Women’s History Month Spotlight at B/D®
    (4.3.23)

At BASIC/DEPT®, we shared in many events this Women’s History Month that created space for women, by women; our Director of People and Culture, Jonelle Roman, led a network-wide panel alongside two other women about how to create a more gender-equitable space within the digital realm and tech industry; internally, our DE&I team hosted a virtual talk with Sister League of San Diego, a women’s non-profit focused on providing housing and skills growth for women in need (volunteer talks are in the works).

Some of our most inspiring women recorded talks speaking about their personal experiences and how their teams are working to bolster efforts in creating more inclusive, welcoming and equitable frameworks for our agency.

Our CEO Ashley Reichel and Director of Growth KC Haiker share their personal journeys and career paths, while discussing how B/D® is furthering its process in embracing equity within our DE&I strategy.

Recruiting Ops Manager Lindsey Adkins sits down with People and Culture Manager Jordan Blackwell and Talent Acquisition Manager Christina Jorro about the hiring trends they’re seeing within the agency, how B/D® reduces bias in the hiring process, and what the onboarding process looks like and how we create a sense of belonging.

Group Creative Director of BASIC/DEPT® and Co-Founder of The Broad Exchange Jen Hays invites her colleague from The Broad Exchange, Creative Director and Activist Rita Leslie, for a retrospective on a past project while discussing the importance of understanding intersectionality when supporting and celebrating women. They share some personal experiences and simple actions you can take to create more empathy and inclusion in your daily interactions.

The women of BASIC/DEPT® took time to share their stories, experiences and lives with the rest of us. It’s not easy to do, but sharing and connecting over stories and experiences has a powerful effect, making us all more aware of the things we need to do to continue to support the women in our lives.

We have one last thing to share with you: the Women’s History Month B/D® JAMS set. In it you’ll find music from chart-topping women, trailblazing women and women whose music just should be played on the regular. Bump it loud.

Here’s to all the women past and present, within our lives and around the world.
